It's a two way race with the film about the bike rider. You can indeed vote every day. :mandosmiley:

I looked at the closed auction and wondered if you got it. Can't wait to hear about it when it arrives!

  6. Re: The Dilemma of Motivation, Attention Span, and Practice Regim

Braid Laird has these 20 points intended to be reviewed (aloud, he says!) every time you sit down to your mandolin: "How to Become Good Fast"

I have this in the front of my music notebook.

"Lost Soul Behind Bars" - NMC

I hope this is the right category for soul music, if not maybe the moderators can move it.

I stumbled upon this article about "The untold story of Upheaval, a prison band [in Wisconsin] that...

Thanks, Charlie. I have a copy of this book on order :)
  9. Re: The Dilemma of Motivation, Attention Span, and Practice Regim

Short attention span is endemic in society today. There are all kinds of reasons. When I was in my 20's I could easily go into a zone, concentrate, and tune everything else out for hours at a time....

Re: Just changed up my strap

I believe that what you really need is two mandolins, one attached either way. That way you can compare back and forth without the hassle of moving the strap.

( Any excuse for a new mandolin...

Re: A Strad-O-Lin almost identical to mine

I hope you guys realized that when I said the F2 was languishing, it meant that I was giving all my attention to the SOL lately, not that they were all sitting in their cases ;)

I didn't parse the shape or notice the propeller until Jim pointed it out. Pretty dang cool.
  13. Re: Does anyone own one of the Eastman varnish finish mandolins?

Re: A Strad-O-Lin almost identical to mine

Here's the thread about my Strad-O-Lin (and others LOL)

Now that I look at it, mine has a dark colored fretboard, but I don't think it's any kind of fancy wood. I've been told at the top and sides...

    Guitar Chord Photo Flash Cards

After my jam camp experience, I am on a mission to learn to recognize what chords the guitar player is making. Not having a guitar player immediately close at hand, I thought about flash cards. On...
