    Hey Pops1,
I am a complete ignoramus as far as amps and such go. What are filter caps and how do I check them? There is a competent technician in my area, should I have him check this out? From...

    Re: Hutto mandolin

All the various Hutto mandolins I've seen here on the MC have been in the rage of $10k.
The first one I remember seeing was in 2013 and it was listed at $9k.

    Re: potato chip casein picks

Tried Blue Chip picks? I've been using them for years and never had that problem. Plus the edge doesn't wear somehow.
I like them way better the casein picks

    Myers Mic

I've used this mic for numerous gigs now and I'm ready to report! It works like a charm and is wonderfully realistic sounding. It has its own battery powered preamp that is not the strongest one...

What I just started using which I can heartily recommend is the Myers Grip With Flexible Micro-Gooseneck. It is...

Thumbs up to the above comments.

  9. Re: Mandolin playing mindset vs guitar playing mindset

I realized it is a completely different instrument. IOW it isn't a guitar so don't even go there! IK,IK, it has frets!!! You use a pick!!! The mandolin is a completely different instrument.

Mandolins and espresso are a great combo!

My personal blend is 1/3 Kona, 1/3 dark Sumatra and 1/3 Caroline's house blend espresso.

I get the darkish roasted Kona from MJA Winery in Santa Cruz ...

    Re: Light Strings

Experiment, try them each and compare.
It's very interesting to hear the difference between light and medium gauge.
Various brands often have their own distinct sound.

    My way of keeping track...

  15. Re: Epiphone MM-30: Should I Improve It, Or Upgrade?

    I'll keep my op short.

    Get another Mandolin.
Find one you can put in your hands and play that makes you go, "WOW" ! !
Then all your music will be from your heart.

  18. Re: Gibson F5-G with bottom edge damage (need advice Buy or Pass)

That is damage that needs immediate repair. I'm not a luthier but I have a decent understanding of what their work involves. What I think I see is the joint at the side and back has been broken....
