  1. Re: Advice on valuing my fathers Stefan Sobell mandolin

Keith is right, why not contact Stefan yourself, and ask him for some advice. Prices in the UK are quite different than they are here in the US.

Re: Airloom Tura carbon fiber mandolin case

That's what I hate about carbon fiber cases. They mark easily.

    Re: Campanella Mandolin

I kept my two-point, but am wedded to my new Heiden, at least for now. But I took a hard look at that F5....thank god someone removed temptation.

Great choice! and love the Lakota non-braided straps!
  6. Re: Northfield Airloom Tura case versus Hoffee carbon fiber case

There are two different sizes of mandolin cases. My Toole came with a larger one because it's body size dictated it. It is reasonable to believe that whoever ordered the case wanted the bigger...

    Re: Campanella Mandolin

Paul, I played a 2011 two-point made from that maple at the March Mandolin Festival one year. It was sold, but Joe let me play it. The back was just gorgeous, and quite unique.

    Re: Campanella Mandolin

I remember Jonathan. Perhaps we did meet then. Nice to know the Campanella found a good home.

I was hoping that the music school would continue with the mandolin festival, but it's not looking...

    Re: Campanella Mandolin

    Yes, Paul

I was at TME when they received the first Toole mandolins and was blown away.

I played them side by side for a few weeks and ended up consigning the Campanella.

  13. Re: Doug Unger Artist Mandolin (New mandolin to me)

I'd say that would be a happy coincidence then.
  14. Re: Doug Unger Artist Mandolin (New mandolin to me)

I believe that mandolin, if it is the same one, belonged to a friend of mine who passed away a few years back. He was a very famous landscape painter, originally from Gloucester, Mass....who later...

It was there for longer than I thought. They listed it Tuesday, although it was probably there, in the store a bit longer.

Re: Northfield mandolins - USA or China made?

So there you have, less than a dozen (hope I counted that right- it's been a long week) people involved in the company...does it matter where they hang their hats?

    Re: Bourgeois Mandolins!

Yes, 4 years ago, you could get a Collings MT2 for around $3k. Now that they are in short supply and over $5k new, you might be able to get an MT, used, for $3k. I think that Bourgeois is pricing...

    Re: Bourgeois Mandolins!

The second post on this thread indicates The A is $2699 for an A-style. Ouch. That's a lot of money - certainly pushing into Northfield territory.

I think by the time you actually see any the...

Only as long as Eastman needs Dana to participate, or when his contract with them ends. Mrs. Bourgeois is a corporate attorney, so I am sure the terms were negotiated so that he has an exit strategy.

    Re: Bourgeois Mandolins!

They are looking for experienced mandolin luthiers. I don’t know how many builders who would give up their own building to move to Lewiston, Maine and work in a shop that has pretty high turnover.
