I'm really surprised at that. If I've understood correctly you've taken a set of strings intended to be tuned to GDAE (an octave below standard mandolin tuning) and tuned them up a 4th to CGDA. ...

Not sure that last post holds true as the two referenced instruments are tuned an octave apart.

I mostly use a Blue Chip TAD 3R 60 - nice warm tone but if I want a bit more 'cut through' I use a Hawk XH which gives much more 'brittle' sound. Just my two penn'orth.
