Im having real problems doing slides on the Mandolin.
Its odd, I also play guitar and have no real issues .
Any tips ? Im wondering if changing strings will help. Currently using D'Addario XT...
Thanks. Sorry i should have said, i'm in the UK
Hi there.
I posted a while back about recommendations for a first oval hole mandolin. I’ve currently got a Kentucky km252 and an Eastman md515 and I prefer the Eastman.
My preference is to...
The A0 ive seen is a '31. No truss rod apparantley.
Hi All,
As posted in another thread im looking for a new Oval hole A style mandolin.
Was originally thinking of another Eastman, but I'm starting to think its time to add a vintage model...
You really have got me on a Martin A. I’m
In the UK so they are not easy to find, but some I’ve found online that have sold look excellent
There is a 1921 Gibson A on eBay near me for £1100. The lack of truss rod puts me off though
Yeah, thats why im drawn to the 404, should be quite a contrast to the 515. Plus black looks cool.
Im internet loitering for Black Friday deals...
Hi There,
I need to think about what to get for xmas.
Im currently learning on an Eastman 515 which is an awesome instrument that i got as a free upgrade to an Eastman 415 that was...
Jeepers this is hard work.
The Kentucky 252 turned up with the filthiest strings i've ever seen. Action was too high and the intonation was slightly flat.
Shop i bought it from very apologetic...
Managed to order a km252 at a good price new from Hobgoblin. Hopefully this will be a better experience.
I've stumbled upon a Kentucky km630, used. Serial number 09070803. Looks to be a Saga chinese made one. Are these all solid. Seller wants £400, any thoughts ?
Oh great and the shop that is selling the Mandolin just pulled out of the sale on me. They started the setup and realised that the fretwork was too big a job. After telling me that it was...
I managed to find a hard foam TKL a/f case for £35 from a shop in Manc. Considering the price of the Mandolin (£275) I think thats about right
Yes They are. I bought a guitar stand off them In June and a few other bits. Took 2 weeks to be delivered but no additional duty or vat to be paid.
Ok £53 if you include shipping. Shipping anything from the EU under £135 is straightforward
Ok I ordered the km250. Can’t wait. They didn’t have any gig bags or hard cases in so I need to find one. Thomann have a universal ABS one for Mandolins (suitable for a and f styles) that looks good...
Here's me naively thinking i can use a guitar pick.
UPDATE
Ok so I found a bargain used Kentucky KM-250 from a reputable store that does setups. Quite a lot of buckle rash and a few dings (well used) on it but the store is saying she plays just...
I think things have changed. Even the Chinese built ones are excellent these days and they are so consistent. Every Yamaha I have bought has been spot on out of the box
I had a look online at Kentuckys and seems there are quite a few stores selling the km252 at a discount and cheaper than the 150. A good starter bluegrasser?
I have one of each of the new Red label mij Yamahas, fantastic Guitars and better than Martins 18 series imho.
There is a good review online of the MD305 and the MD415 by the same guy...
I know in the guitar world they are well thought of. I've never owned one being a Yamaha man myself.
My main question is just if they are the right brand for Bluegrassing. Seems im stuck on either...
Hmm I see Forsyths have an offer on an Eastman MD415 black. Tempted
