  1. Re: Playing a triplet over 2 quarter notes.

Good for you, Steve. It is fun to try arranging for other instruments then listening to the end results.

Re: What should I do with that mandolin?

The E and A string sets certainly look metal. Interestingly, the nut slots are much better spaced as four pairs compared to the uniform spacing found at the saddle.

    Re: Stimudent

Surely they are essential when picking a new, difficult tune that you are struggling to get your teeth into? :mandosmiley:
  8. Re: Newly Completed Brescian Mandolin in Walnut and Maple

A fine creation, David. Very elegant design and timber choices. The geared violin tuning pegs are such a good idea too.

Good to hear you vocally, Dagger. A fine delivery of a great old song, and interesting backing on your offering.

Surely reading very long threads about how to avoid practising is the most valid reason? I am doing it now when I could be playing instead! :mandosmiley:

Re: Does a small split by sound hole matter?

The glue does not matter so much with such a small repair - even CA glue could be used on this short crack. As far as suitable cleat material, I am lucky in that I have lots of offcuts from my...

Re: Does a small split by sound hole matter?

The crack has nowhere else to go as the neck block will prevent any further splitting. It can be stabilised by gluing a small spruce (or other suitable tonewood) cleat across the crack on the...

Both seem to have had the tuner plates cut to remove tuners - note the fixing screw positions. The teardrop-shaped instrument has a tailpiece made for only 4 strings while the guitar-bodied one has...
