I do remember that show as I was there for it. It was available on youtube at one point but I can't find it either.

I listened to most of it yesterday and will check it out again as I get a chance, really great hearing Ian's new tunes. Thanks Pete!

I was surprised to read today that Ian Coury, one of my favorite young bandolim players from Brazil, has a new course on Peghead Nation ("Brazilian Choro Mandolin with Ian Coury). I am looking...
Probably my favorite tune from this incredible album. I bought it at Stu Herrick's "Folkstore" in Seattle back in the early 1980s, probably not long after it was released. It blew my mind... still...

Yeah! I love that tune as well!
One of my favorite albums from this era. I bought it (vinyl!) back when it first came out.

Another favorite of mine is Marco Ruviaro, a Brazilian player currently living in Italy. He's equally incredible on mandolin and 7-string guitar. Here he is on 7-string guitar with Vitor Casagrande...
Seeing this week's Mandolin Monday video with Ian Coury reminded me of two my favorite (relatively) recent youtube discoveries with Ian Coury playing two of my favorite K-Ximbinho pieces: "Ternura"...
Looking forward to this Alex!
Totally agree. This is a great product but the tracks are too short.
So sad. Hearing Dawg and Tony in 1979 for the first time on vinyl and then live a few years later re-arranged my life. Very sad to hear this.

I saw them at a house concert in Seattle in October 2018 and they are tremendous. Likewise looking forward to seeing them again at Wintergrass!!
Good job Terry! and thanks! I have been working through Aaron's book as well, although very, very slowly. Extremely challenging material for me. I had not made the connection with Etude #2 in the...
I remember that video and was thinking of it recently as well for some reason. No idea how to find it though....
Thanks so much Ted! Very sad to hear this well but thanks for all the work over the years. I do hope someone takes up the baton in some form or another.

Count me in as a Frisell fan too. I'm also a big fan of Julian Lage's. I've been listening to him avidly ever since I accidentally stumbled into a set of his with Chris Eldridge at Wintergrass a few...
All of these books are good. Don Julin's books are excellent and have great audio files that accompany them. The book by Tommy Norris may not be suitable for an absolute beginner -- but it is worth...
Some nice playing here!

Yay Tim! One of my favorite mandolin players and teachers. Haven't see you up here in Seattle recently... come on up!

Mentioning Garrison Fewell reminds me of his guitar improv books. The titles are something like "Jazz Improv - A Harmonic Approach" and "Jazz Improv - A Melodic Approach". I had looked at the melodic...
Great idea Pete!
Stephane Wrembel also has a bunch of backup tracks available at http://www.stephanewrembel.com/lessons/. He calls them "lessons" but they're really backup tracks. They are also at a pretty rapid clip...
Make that two recommendations for this book. I learned a lot from it (still learning) and it has helped my reading too since I didn't have the tab crutch to fall back on.
