Many people who make primitive bows(the archery kind) and arrows use glass and obsidian exclusively for scraping bows. Besides, obsidian can be 100 times sharper than steel

This is the first I've heard of either one of these events...and my friend lives in the ArtLofts building!
You're always there for us Johnny, thanks!
(now I'll have to find out if my friend knows...
Good point. Sheep gut is also good for bowstrings (archery bows)
nah, I always blame it on the cat. Especially when the dumb thing lit herself on fire on a candle. She's lucky I put her out.
Thanks for the reply. I'm not positive on the brand of the mic, I don't think it was very expensive. The imic just doesn't have enough output volume so I figured I might need the preamp. Any...
I have a dynamic instrument mic running into an imic then to my mac. I'm not getting very good volume from the mic when I record. Are there any solutions? Should I get a pre-amp?

At my first Nickel Creek concert, they sang "Be Thou My Vision" unplugged at the end of their encore. Absolute dead silence throughout the whole place and I wasn't the only one with tears streaming...
Thanks for replying! I say it's definitely worth the effort. I've been thinking about that blonde A and #27 all day!
I don't know about anybody else, but I think those tailpiece covers are the coolest thing ever! I hope I'm not prying too much, but how do you make those?!? Is it replacing the metal cover or is it...
Thanks for the help, guys
I don't have the mandolin, my friend saw it in a music shop. I guess, what I really want to know is if it's worth the $75 they're asking for it.
I haven't seen it myself, but my friend said it was...
Anybody ever hear of these mandolins? I've seen a few guitars and mandos by them, but not much info. My friend ran across an A style in good shape and I was wondering what one might be worth. Any...

How lucky can you be?!? I like your space the best. But then, I do live in St. Louis too, so I guess I'm a little biased.
How about the Pogues? I'm asking for a Flogging Molly t-shirt for Christmas!
Søren - I really meant with modern sighted bows, and it doesn't seem natural to close your dominant eye, BUT it is probably less of a factor with a bow as opposed to, say, a shotgun. And you're right...
Shooting archery has more to do with your dominant eye than your handedness. And almost all real longbows can be shot from either side because you use your hand as the arrow rest and don't use any...
thanks for the great answer! I just assumed you had to do some kind of work on a matte finish. I guess I assumed that because the finish is so smooth (like on a Gibson F9). But like you said, I guess...
so you don't have to do any kind of leveling? Are there never any finish imperfections with a matte finish? Can you tell I don't do finish work?
Big Joe
Can you tell us what final grit your flat finish is sanded to?
mandopete,
I'm glad someone still loves my Martha pick. I thought I'd never see her again. She looks pretty good, although that was a pre-prison picture.
thanks for the surprise and laugh!
John
That is exactly what I was thinking!
I wonder how many other graphic designers had the same thought...
Thanks Chris! Can you sand and scrape it?
It's a type of binding that International Violin and Grizzly sell. I'm not sure what it's made of, hence the questions.
I was wondering if fiber binding is worked just like wood binding. Do you bend it in the same manner as wood? Does it sand and scrape the same? Do you use wood glue?
Any tips would be appreciated!...
