I've loved Don Williams since I was little, and my dad has always been a big fan of his. Fun fact, when my aunt got married about 10-15 years ago now, she said her husband wrote the song "Listen to...

Our son is a rocker who took off with his band at 16. A few years later he was ready to give mom and dad a try again and I went to help him fix an apartment. We listened to my iPod while we worked....

And in the interest of symmetry, here's a great Ronnie Lane song with some nice mandolin:

Ah yes, "The Gentle Giant." Not sure if he's one of the all-time greats, but just about every single was a good song, well-done. His music's easygoing style was so pleasant to hear, yet may have...

I've been a fan since his folkie days. His songs never seem over produced and that mandolin is just pleasant.

How many F-5L's were made from when they were introduced till Norlin sold the company? My guess is very few and had little impact on the market.

    Re: F Style Mandolins

I had downloaded this shot for another thread, but this would be one of the earliest F models made by Orville before there was a Gibson company.
  13. Re: Do you know the model of this 1935 Gibson?

Ok, it could also be a late 30ies A-00 (same as A-1 before it went to have the wide bell body). But the script in the back of the headstock seems to indicate otherwise (albeit itīs not original to...
  14. Re: Do you know the model of this 1935 Gibson?

Looks like itīs a 30ies Gibson A-50 (with replaced tuners). As the fretboard is glued to the top (like roundhole Gibson mandolins) the sound may be nice but it will lack power. They can be nice...

There are still quite a few Loars being bought, sold and traded that not too many people know about! Some under and some over, some way over! Tom's right, very good buy for the 50K one!

This isn’t vintage, but it is cool. The headstock on my Phil Crump OM, which incorporates his initials and a cool floral design. As a botanist, I like it. Phil also has a botanical degree.
