    Re: New Mandolin Cafe Hat

I'm fine with the basic black, but I also like this denim trucker that I got from Gil and Dave.:mandosmiley:

  2. Re: Could I leave mando in car in winter while skiing?

Yes. Instruments get shipped throughout the world on a daily basis with longer journeys and a lot less care than you're willing to give. Bring it and play it!
  3. Re: Mandolin case for a Martin Style C mandolin

Just a thing to bring up and address is that not all Martins are the same size. I think the body width was a bit smaller in 1919. A custom order for cases might have to involve two different sizes.

Re: Best way to learn Mandolin with ADHD

I don't know how the ADHD mind works, but I prefer learning tunes over technique. I've been subscribing to John Reichsman's Old Time Course on Peghead Nation for the past year or so (NFI). I've...

    Re: Vintage Gibson mandola nerdfest

You mentioned quartet. What's the story with the other two?
  8. Re: Developing New Old Time Show called Appalachian String Inn

I only listened to the first couple of tunes from the first link, but it looks and sounds good.

When does the live stream happen?

Are you looking for this to be more of an interactive thing...

Re: Big Muddy MW-11 in Cincinnati

That looks really cool, but I'm not crazy about the wide nut. It's about an eight hour drive to Cincinnati for me. Bids are low though.
  11. Re: Oval Hole, A styl mandolin with full 14.25 to 14.50" scale le

    Thanks J.C.
I did a little research. Mr. Nyberg builds some impressive looking instruments.

  12. Re: Oval Hole, A styl mandolin with full 14.25 to 14.50" scale le

Congrats! The Classified link that Pheffernan posted is dead. I'd like to see what was purchased. It seems like it wasn't in the 14.25-14.50" scale range.

    Re: Linda Lou my Gibson

Looks great! I'm just curious about the trimmed tuner plates. Possibly they were replacements?

Re: Looking for 90s mandolin player

Maybe Bob Carlisle? "Butterfly Kisses" was a popular song in the nineties that was probably written for his daughter. Not sure how much mandolin he played.

    Re: The Honeymoon is OVER!!!

I've been slowly converting to this method. It takes some practice, but I think it's a good way to do it.

Other than trimming the strings there's no tools necessary.

I bend the loops with my...

Re: Why an “Entry Level” mandolin?

Zach's link shows what the correct specs are. Solid spruce top, solid maple back and sides, solid mahogany neck. I own two of these and have been quite happy with them. As JiminRussian said in the OP...

Poll: Re: Advice needed for Scroll T Shirt

I'm a solid D. No strap. Even as a mandolin player I think A-C would probably go over my head. If I saw D for the first time I would probably think waves and that's okay, but if the person wearing...

  25. Re: Buy a vintage Gibson or more modern mandolin?

That looks really nice! If I didn't have a pet peeve about strap buttons added to neck heels I think I would jump on it myself.
