Hi - I just did a quick check on the interwebs….one of the vendors advertised on the Café - Elderly Instruments - offers a bowl back mandolin case that (depending on your instrument's dimensions)...
Greetings from the City Of The Big Chair (aka Thomasville)! Not "from" here but have lived here long enough to call it home :)
I've seen this logo before, but not on a mandolin. See this link - it's the same logo on a Takamine guitar:...
Thanks all for the suggestions!!
My sister (until very recently) was an attorney with the city of Buffalo, so I've been there a time or two (Anchor Bar - yumm!) but my last visit was well before I...
Thanks!! I don't know if I'll have enough free time to make it out to Bernunzio's but will keep them in mind.

Hello!
I'm going to be making a quick "shuffle off" to Buffalo NY the first week of October, and I was wondering if there are any shops in that area that would be worth paying a visit to should...
FWIW...I think that the wood used...esp. as shown in pic #5...is really pretty. Not sure about the value, but it's a great art piece in my opinion...
Hi JL277z
To answer your questions...
1) Yes. They are essentially a regular piano that has been fitted with a mechanism of some sort to play the keys. Older ones used vacuum and a large...
Hi Drew
Just my two cents...
Restoration of old player pianos is nothing short of a labor of love. A close family friend rebuilt / restored two of them...one an upright Steinway and one a...
Definitely give the Nature's Miracle a try. I've used it for years and have not found anything on the market that works quite as well on critter (and people) accidents.
Regarding the baking...
Hi Mee
Griffin's Guitars in Salsbury had a couple of older Gibsons the last time I was there (around Thanksgiving 2017). I know that Jackson's Music in Winston-Salem usually has an Eastman or...

Hi Zeb!
I'm in central / Eastern Davidson County. I don't know of any jams here...been playing with just my mandolin teacher. I've often thought that getting together with others to play and...
When I bought my Weber it's last owner had done a lot of playing in bars, etc., so as a result the interior of the case and the mandolin itself reeked of cigarettes.
Wiping down the mando with a...

Hi All!
I met with Mallory @ Griffin's Guitars this afternoon to talk about the guitar since he'd had a couple of days to go over it.
Long story short, he agrees that it's not a Martin. ...
Hi Mike
Thank you for the input! My initial thought was that it was a more mass produced guitar, but it was the bridge that got me thinking it might be otherwise. I'm no expert, and in my...
Thanks! I already have plans to pay Mallory a visit tomorrow. He was the closest Martin certified repair contact, and I figured if nothing else he may be able to help determine what this is or...
Thanks! I'm no expert, and don't pretend to be ;) Considering that I now also have Great Grandpa's mandolin and it's essentially a no-namer (a bowlback, 11 staves, paper label that says "National"...
Hi Mike
Here are a few more pics...if you need something more let me know.
I and the team at the music store where I take mandolin lessons looked everywhere...even down inside with a mechanic's...
Hi y'all!
I've recently been gifted with my Great Grandfather's guitar.
This poor critter has lead a rough life over the last 110 +/- years, and is in need of repair.
Everyone here at the...

I know what you mean! I've been using Primatone semi-round 1.3mm's....until today. I just picked up a TAD-50 and WOW does it make a difference! Not just in sound but the overall "feel" of the pick...
It may not be Excalibur, and I may not be the Lady Of The Lake, but this tiny object holds a far greater power - music! :mandosmiley:
