  1. Re: Tuning up a Traditional Brekke Bridge

Oh, another thing (sorry for dripfeeding :) )

Maybe by just exchanging the thumbwheels to some with a lower profile you could circumvent those more "invasive" interventions!
    IMO you don't really...
  2. Re: Tuning up a Traditional Brekke Bridge

    Forgot to mention:
I did in fact try to fit a cuberland lowboy bridge, but the arch of the mandolin's top was so much more pronounced than that of the bridge that was delivered to me, that by the...
  3. Re: Tuning up a Traditional Brekke Bridge

I had the same issue with my Weber Yellowstone.

    1. I sanded down the elevated areas of the bridge's base where the holes for the posts are.
    2. I sanded a small portion off the lower part of the...
  4. Re: Sellerís Remorse - 2008 custom Weber Fern

Gosh, just realized the gravity of your last post.

Keeping my fingers crossed for the guy now, too!
  5. Re: Sellerís Remorse - 2008 custom Weber Fern

Up until now, I had been contemplating selling my Weber Yellowstone HT F-Style.
This thread is giving me second thoughts. It IS the best sounding mandolin I've ever owned after all...

    Anyway, I'm...
  6. Re: New to me mandolin coming. Good string to start off with?

I think even short term you'll have to make a few yes/no-decisions.

    Roundwound:
1.: Bronze vs Phosphor bronze - Phosphor tends to be a little warmer and softer. This is what most bluegrass and...

    Re: 2021 Coall A5 mandolin

    Me too :)

Do you have additional info on the mandolin? Is this a maple back? And why is it a prototype?

    Cheers

  10. Re: New Player - Kentucky KM-150 vs KM-250?

I like how you immediately changed your signature to your KM-250! That's the spirit! :))

BTW, I just recently set up my new The Loar LM-310F-BRB and tonally it compares surprisingly decent to my...

Re: Beautiful A- Style on Reverb

John and Jeremy of The Acoustic Shoppe should make a Youtube-Video promoting this one! Not that I'm in the market, but I do enjoy their playing a lot. Not to mention their banter - Jeremy is such a...
  12. Re: There has got to be something better than Tabledit, right?

So, all's well that ends well, then! I was fearing some of the comments might have come across as a little patronizing, I'm glad you took it so well :)

Here's a solo for Little Georgia Rose I just...
  13. Re: There has got to be something better than Tabledit, right?

Personally, I use TuxGuitar. Its free and relatively uncomplicated (triplets? Piece of cake). It's got its quirks and you won't be able to compose an opera with it, but for mapping out a fiddle tune...

You can be proud of this one! Sounds and looks amazing!

    Thanks for sharing!
  15. Re: "Scrubs" theme cover (Superman by Lazlo Bane)

Aah, thanks for that! We used to watch that show a lot back in the college days.

My roommate got hit by a car and has been neurologically impaired ever since, another friend is struggling with...

Re: What's up with that truss rod?

Soooo, I just tried out a 4mm hex wrench with a ball end on the truss rod and guess what: It worked perfectly! After a little poking and wiggling it connected and I was able to adjust the truss rod...

    That one is priceless :disbelief:

In my case, at least someone put some effort into something, but this is just cheeky :))

Re: What's up with that truss rod?

Well, thanks for all the expertise!
I guess I'll give the idea of looking for an allen screw via the end pin hole a shot - It'll have to wait until Monday though, because I keep the Mando at work.

What's up with that truss rod?

    Hello everyone,

I recently received a so far unplayed The Loar 310-F-BRB Mandolin.

This is what I found when I removed the truss rod cover.

    Re: Warm up song

Home Sweet Home for me. But I also like Whiskey Before Breakfast and St. Anne's Reel.

Beautiful melodies, can involve all four pairs of strings, lots of room for improvisation, sound nice in every...
  25. Re: Advice/Suggestions on characteristics of an ideal mandolin st

You're welcome :) I bought it used from a private seller on ebay. It doesn't have a brand name (or anything at all for that matter) written or stamped on it, so no way of telling who made these.
