Wonderful news.
Thanks for this note. I feel the person running the jam can do what they please and players can take it or leave it. If it ain't fun for whatever reason, the jam will eventually die. I think WW is a...
Steve discussed this in a 2018 interview I did with him on Bluegrass Today.
"Well, I guess I wanted a better sounding surfboard!...It’s always come from the music. I’ve never had a business plan....

Thanks much Jim. I just messaged you.
I don't mind Mando but us folks in NoCal hate Frisco or San Fran ;)
+10 on MuseScore and it's free
Here's a link to some wonderful memories friends and colleagues shared. https://www.kudoboard.com/boards/ooJ0ixB0
+1 on the Golden Age which I just had installed on my A4 at Gryphon Strings last month. I think there are originals available if you do a little research and want to shell out the $ for them.
Loved this guy; so intelligent, friendly, and funny. I had the pleasure of working with him to oversee some work on my A4 and he shared the history of the old Gibson's as only he could do. It was...
I'm posting this in case others have this issue. I'm in agreement with Paul Hostetler and HoGo that the tuners are usually not the issue. I had this problem on my Gibson A4 2nd A string. I had...
Agree Bob. They always can use non mandolin instruments as well especially small size fiddles.
Thank you Bob. I'll be on the lookout for that Snakehead in the capable hands of some youngin!
I also started mandolin later. When I turned 40, I bought my first mandolin from Frank's Pickin' Parlor at the Strawberry Music festival. I'm on my 5th or 6th instrument and have never regretted a...
Congratulations Scott on starting this and keeping it going all this time. You definitely belong in the Mandolin HOF!
I've loved all the Heidens that I have had the honor to play but I wonder how their resale value is compared to Gils, Montees, and Nuggets.
Sweet!
Both he and Sierra played Hardly Strictly Bluegrass in San Francisco I think on the same day but there were no guest appearances.
I love my old Gibson and found that it works well for most anything of what I play, OT, BG, Irish, and some blues. It's been played a lot and the old wood really moves me.
I may be wrong but it seems to me that bluegrassers focus on this issue while jazz cats seem to encourage animated sounds, facial expressions and the like while playing.
Sweet, can't wait to read more. I met Andy a couple of times at the Mandolin Symposium where someone took the pic below and also on a recent visit to NYG. I'm fascinated at his deep approach to...
Thanks for that link Charles. To answer your question on that thread, she discusses that mandolin in this interview as a Webber (not Weber) that was her parents instrument she played when she was...
It was so much fun doing this on someone Darby Brandli of the California Bluegrass Association says is just about 1 1/5 years behind Molly Tuttle in terms of popularity. Thanks for this opportunity...
How about she just practices very quietly which is a great technique for learning how to play relaxed and stress-free. Muting notes on left hand is one example or very shallow right hand tremolo.
I just had the pleasure of meeting Mark at a Chris Jones show yesterday. Wonderful player and wonderful CD.
