Hello! A friend pointed me to this thread as we were trading notes about my A2Z. I haven't read all of the posts here but have some info on one I purchased earlier this year that falls right in I...
Apologies for the double post - wanted to add one with quotes from previous post and thought I could delete the original. Been on the cafe for quite a few years but I rarely post on the forum so a...
Hi Tal - Thanks VERY much for this info. About to order a Hiscox from Elderly. Best, Don
Hi all -
Apologies if this question has already been answered (I'm sure it's in this forum somewhere!) but I'm looking for a good case for my ALS A-5. I've read some posts about cases but nothing...
yes - that thought crossed my mind immediately upon reading the above post. MAS lives inside me and needs little provocation... :-)
FYI - I just got off the phone with the Saudi Embassy in DC....
I also saw the one about stringed instruments being sold there - I agree on the possible flawed logic thought
an Oud? hmmmm - just checked tuning GDAE wasn't on the list but I could probably...
I saw that one, too. I don't plan to do any busking... ;-)
I'll be contacting the Saudi Embassy in DC tomorrow to double check, regardless.
If anyone has any experience here - lemme know - and...
I'm anticipating some frequent business travel to Saudi Arabia over an extended period. I've asked others in my company who have traveled there and searched extensively on line and have yet to find a...
yup - and the rest is history! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
I bet that Weber of yours is a nice piece!
Right - but the MT2 is the top of the line Collings 'A' model. If you look at the MT2sb at Acoustic Music Works in the link above - I'd say that very mandolin would be easily twice the price or a bit...
no - trying to do apples to apples - Master Class Breedlove A or K models to high end Collings A models and I see now that Breedloves are actually priced a bit higher.
an example - Acoustic Music...
the Master Class Breedloves are in the same ballpark price range as the MT2 Collings mandolins. The MF Collings are quite a bit more but it's fair price-wise to compare a high end Breedlove with a...
Another factor is that the "shark fin" headstock design and it seems thier best instruments are mostly that K shape. OK, I'm sure Breedlove fans love them, and that's fine. I am not putting them...
yes - it's steve. good guy - straight talk.
I was just on the phone with him yesterday talking about his 2 birdseye MT2's. beautiful pieces - enough to make a man want to leave home...
in the...
I think you're right about the lack of traditional F style having something to do with it - maybe that's a lot of it. Breedlove remains a 'best kept secret' as a result I guess. Sweet neck - radius...
I've played a few Collings in stores as I deal with my ongoing struggle with MAS in its advanced stages - even as recently as yesterday...
Long story short - from my perch, I'd say Collings...
well put.
I think you summed it up nicely. we expect more out of someone of his stature. I've admired his playing for more years than I can remember. the Skaggs & Rice album remains near the top of my all time...
right... does seem silly... time better spent playing... not squabbling via keyboards... 'computer OFF!'
actually I have to say you're absolutely right and I take back my 'shut up & sing' statement. he certainly has the right to speak his mind... no question.
but for him to call IBMA ignorant &...
Funny - my first post ever on the message board WOULD be about something like this... and I'm not a hardcore bluegrass picker...
Note to Ricky - If it ain't bluegrass why in the world should you...
reply regarding having the amplified band there...
it was a bit awkward being in the band. especially playing mandolin with all of you all out there!! :-)
we thought it seemed like a good idea...
