Congrats, Tony. I know you'll be pleased with the mandolin.
I have three of his, two F5's and an A. You could say I'm sold on Ellis.
Remember the long discussion regarding microphones and recording on Thile/Daves, 'Sleep With One Eye Open'? Some folks said it was un-listenable and terribly flawed, too.
My opinion...people are...
Same situation and sentiments as Gary... although I don't own an H.
So is it old news OR not big news?
Actually, the fact that the cases can be ordered through Ellis Mandolins, plus a photo of the case with the new and improved headstock room....is new news to me.

I'll put in a plug for the ArtistWorks Mike Marshall course. I just joined and am 1 month into a 3 month subscription. He's put a lot of great lesson videos together plus the video exchanges between...
Larry,
That's a great video. Where did you find it? YouTube?
Thanks for posting it.

I have #115...a similar vintage to the Hawaiian #111. I love it.

Sorry, my photo is not near as good.
Good luck. I'm sure they will be fine mandolins.

Matt is one of my favorites! I hear click in some of his recordings. It's not overly intrusive.
Notes on the CD purchase page indicate that a Duff mandolin and mandola were used. No mention of Gilchrist.
I'm gonna agree with the several above. McCoury has this one nailed.
Eric Mardis, the banjo player, used to work at Mass Street Music in Lawrence, Kansas. Not sure if he still does but you might try giving him a call there. I bet he'd help you.
MT - Mandolin Teardrop?
MF - Mandolin Florentine?
Yes, lots of mandolin building and playing in the greater Austin area. I am a fan of all. Ellis, Collings, Stefan Passernig, Paul Glasse, Billy Bright.....many more that I'm missing I'm sure.
That explains that. Congrats. I'm a proud Ellis owner myself.
Great looking flowerpot. Is that a slightly different design or is it just the additional truss rod inlay throwing me off.
And.....that Band Perry kid was playing an Ellis A at one time. Didn't see the show last night. Can't be all bad.
Interesting....
Backstage! Cool. Have fun. She's one of a kind. I saw her once in Austin in a not so good state. The wind (or fans) kept blowing her lyric sheets off a music stand she was using. She stormed off...
Good looking.
