    Re: I found this…..

The bullet is there to stay, I am building it to order, the prospective new owner was quite amused to see it and happy to keep it!

    I found this…..

I started building an archtop tenor guitar, the back plate is apple wood, as I was getting deeper into what looked like a clean piece of wood, I started to notice a knot appearing!

    The wood was...

    Re: Gold Tone TG-18

Hi John, there are plenty of old threads on this forum all about the Gold Tone as it was a popular choice before the Blueridge became so well known.
If you want to find them, try using Google adding...

    Re: Tension/strings on a BR 40-T

There is some variation in the string calculators and obviously personal preference as well so I dont think there will be a ‘one for all’ set.
    I am very happy using 12p 18w 30w 45w on my lighter...

    Re: Tension/strings on a BR 40-T

There are quite a few similar post on this forum, I believe the BR 40 t is rated to 100lb total tension but some folk have converted them to 160lb 8 strings!
However the general consensus seems to...

Re: A couple odd tenors on ebay

You will definitely not get the best potential from any soundboard if the place the bridge so far away from the centre but that is not to say it wont make a sound.

    Re: Regal tenor restoration

I restored one and rebuilt it with an X brace.
I sold it on EBay or to be more correct almost gave it away on EBay
I cant remember exactly how much I sold for but I think it was around £160 ($200}...

Re: Kala KA-GTR Tenor Guitar for under $160

There are severle string tension calculators out there, they are not that easy to learn but quite easy once you work out the system.
There may well be small discrepancies with types of steel string...

Re: small guitar to tenor conversion

It has been done hundreds of time and can be quite satisfying but as to how far you go, will depend on your DIY ability's and your expectations?

    Re: Kala and Ibanez

From my point of view, a 21” scale is feels better for me with CGDA simply because the A is not so taught and not so prone to break but sound wise, I think the longer the scale the better!

    Re: Kala and Ibanez

    Re: Kala and Ibanez

I think they are both well made budget guitars, I like the look of the Ibanez and the Karla has many positive reviews.
The Karla in particular is a popular short scale tenor.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
