New O rings...
@MarkSeale. Yes indeed. I’ve got the waterfront covered! Each does its own thing so well. I’m a lucky guy.
Yes! It is the Doc Kauffman "Vibrola"patented in 1932...while Doc was working with Rickenbacher Electro. (Later Doc joined forces with Leo Fender to form K&F a precursor to Fender. I haven't...
Correct (no surprise) 1930s Rickenbacher Electro, in extremely clean condition (I think the neck binding might have been replaced). Action and playability (with the bid pickup) is surprisingly...
The mandolin plays great; pickup is well rounded, strong and dead quiet. Surprisingly wonderful. Going to dig in. Life in France is good.

Here's a short loop of my Stevens...played through a Satellite amplifier, no effects. My first time looping...but I think Im going to like it. p.s. you can't really hear how great the low end is...
I’ve had it for 10 days now. Just gets better and better. I’ll try to create a sound clip, although I’m not really set up for it and generally don’t like cell phone “fidelity.” I can say it sounds...
My dream has come true...and then some. Such an inspiring, fantastic instrument.

I just received this yesterday, after purchasing it at auction in June. Restrung it with D'Addario XS strings. Since there isn't too much information about these I thought I'd post a couple of...
Andy Statman reported that he is recovering from COVID-19 as well.
SO wonderful to hear Aaron playing with the estimable Matt Munisteri and Tom Hubbard. Fantastic ensemble playing with tones and taste for days. Can't wait for this drop.
Jonathan is a great guy and builds quality instruments. You can get a lot of different tones and sounds from his instruments, because he uses quality components/parts and he cares about craft and...
My friend, a studio musician in L.A., has played his "bed-pan-dolin" for decades. It always gets a good reaction, and works well in certain situations.
Hi Mark: It is a very cool thing...that is not worth very much (unless you get two bidders who "have to have it" at an auction). On the best day, PolyTone amps are not valuable or collectible (even...
Looks great Scott. Thanks for all you do.
If they're playable, seems like a great deal. Functional folk art.
SO xlnt all the way 'round...Collings are such great folks, Mandolin Cafe is such great on-line community and resource and Kyle will have a lifetime to spread the joy of mandolin music, community and...
DANG, Tom Ellis...Dang. Magnificent work.
Indeed. At this point, I make a bid, my best bid (for me...good value and something I feel good about)...and then I "let go." More often than not, I don't win. But when I do...its always a good...
It went for 1800 pounds. I was outbid. Oh well.
The top and back are both fully braced--top has at least two (one just past the end of the fingerboard and the other under the bridge area; two on the back-one visible through the sound hole and one...
Jim/All: The scale length is 7 7/8". AND the red striping on the top is inlaid, not painted. Also, radiused fingerboard. If it is a child's instrument, it is a pretty serious one.
And the (re)search continues! I'm finding it a bit amazing that this is not settled...yet.
My friends in another thread have concluded it is a Portuguese machete...tuned d'-g-b-d". Precursor to the ukelele but steel strings. Looking for another example...but it seems possible...
Agreed Allen. Not a uke (loop end steel strings). It IS a mystery and many of my "expert" musico friends haven't figured it out yet. But we're having fun. Check out the book matching on the back....
