Awesome. Nice work!
David McLaughlin states some of those Harmony mandolins sound pretty darn good--one of the best mandolin players out there. I have one and can attest to that also...far better sounding than a cheap...
Do whatever is going to bring you happiness. Trade her off and get that scroll man!
To be honest, I usually don’t like Thile’s work upon my first listen. The punch brothers for example, it took some time before I fell in love with them. I think his musical prowess is just above my...
I’ve forgotten about twenty songs to every one of my memorized songs...those I remember are ones I play often. The rest I have to hear and work on again for a bit until they return. Have fun, play...
Very cool.
Looks and sounds awesome!
As a nurse myself, I love the idea. I recently took care of a patient that was pretty awesome on the harmonica--said they took it everywhere since they were 10 years old. Also, I recall, long ago...
I jokingly call my children numbers 1-3...my kids call my mandolin #4. I do sometimes give it a kiss goodnight so there’s that...
Compared to Chris's individual song lessons? Have you purchased one of these or just the MSI 1? If not, you should...buy the lesson on Jerusalem Ridge...or Lochwood...they're incredible.
I just...
I have the entire series...and I disagree 100% with the OP in terms of video and audio quality. The first series is the beginning and is less polished, less fluff and graphic design than the...
Here’s another gem, she’s so talented:

Super interesting pursuit. There is a place, scene, environment, an emotion, a moment for this kind of music, I can’t place it and perhaps that’s the beauty in it.
It’s ok to not be in love with...
Honestly, sounds like it would be a good idea to pass on this one. A fretboard extension wouldn’t just “sink” because it’s not supported in a well built mandolin like that, something is off. Then...
Awesome. Just ordered. Kinda forgot how much I loved Chris--man, that tone, unbelievable. Pretty cool to get the autographed print too!!
Probably a combination of setup and technique. You’ll get it down, one half requires an easy to fix the other, time, patience and giving yourself some grace. Push as close to the frets as you can.
Thought I'd go ahead and share this video of Chris Henry interviewing the Dawg to make sure every mandolin enthusiast gets to hear the Dawg's thoughts on musical goals/philosophy. Very cool. There...
Dude. Loved it. That’s song rocks.
Yes, you’re pretty much at the equivalent...mandolin articles, a hub for all things mandolin...this is your mandolin magazine of the digital age.

Best beginner resource IMO. Of course artistworks and peghead are great...I’ve used them all.
Welcome fellow Veteran and mandolin player. I didn’t know diddly squat about music before picking up the mandolin a long time ago. Have fun, enjoy the ride, we’re all “trying” to play music.
Dawg, I’ve got your wife’s art proudly hanging in my studio—bought at a show in Portland a while back—signed by you of course. Your encouragement of the female artist, in whatever form, is obvious if...
Wow, that back is amazing.
A notation version of this song exists on the “music muse” app. Arranged for piano...could easily be played on mandolin.
