    Re: Hybrid X Lattice

I would think fitting and installing the lattice as one piece would be a much more difficult process than installing individual pieces. Of course you could install all of the pieces of one side and...

You do realize that response was 9 years ago…..

But you can use a file to shape a button to your heart’s desire.

Re: Tygh Valley Oregon Bluegrass Jamboree

By that criteria people are going to be calling me ‘Kenny’.:)
  5. Re: Good Tone - How long does it actually take?

Re: Tygh Valley Oregon Bluegrass Jamboree

My wife and I will be there. We’re still rehearsing our ‘sing for your supper’ tune and looking forward to a Molly B’s breakfast. Mmmmm, bacon.

I’ll also be defending my Golden Ladle trophy in...
  8. Re: The Dilemma of Motivation, Attention Span, and Practice Regim

Folks may knock it, but scheduling a daily time for a broadly structured practice regimen is quite effective. Following Evan Marshall’s outline, divide your time in blocks of:
    Warmup 10%
    Technical...
  9. Re: Good Tone - How long does it actually take?

As is often said, it depends. And your question seems more like 'how long until I'm the musician I want to be?'

You're the judge of your practice, so comparing how you play your scales versus...

    Re: Question about pinky use...

I always use the pinky unless I’m sliding for effect. But others don’t.

Re: Can anybody tell me what I have?

I'd like to see a picture of it being played. I can't imagine how one can hold it.

  13. Re: Your favourite manufacturer offers you a signature model

I might want a manouche style body, petite bouche sound hole on a carved top and back instrument.:whistling:
  14. Re: Anchor a finger on the pit guard or not?

Typically not recommended but often done. Doesnít seem to hurt Adam Steffey.

Re: Guitar Chord Photo Flash Cards

While learning the shapes can be useful, longer term, knowing the sounds associated with the guitar chords is more powerful, to me anyway. Especially focusing on the root chords, the open G chord,...

Re: Distressed Mandolin and Regular Playing

Most instruments show a little wear over time. I donít come across many folks with Ďdistressedí instruments. Itís a style thing.

    Re: Our Fearless Leader Spotted!

    Re: 5-string mandolin for beginner?

Having an adjustable pole humbucker makes string balance a project of experimentation and reasonably doable. Don’t expect a pre made set of strings to achieve this end.

Re: Monel strings - what to do, what to do?

Curt Mangan's are fine, but I've been mostly playing D'Addario's NB strings lately. NB is a little punchier (how's that for a technical term!). All f hole instruments.
  23. Re: Mandolin Serial Number Decoder--Gibson

Gibson has a decoder on its site, although its not particularly easy to find. Try Googling Gibson mandolin serial numbers.
  24. Re: How is Tuning Drift with Rubner Tuning Machines
