    a good luthier can always fill holes and make new ones
    if the new tailpiece is not spot on in all regards.

    One thing an internal sound board attached pickup can offer is placing it where you like the sound best...
    testing it by moving it around on the top to find the sweet spot then having it fixed on...

    Thicker string reaches pitch @ higher tension,
    so if you play with a heavy right hand it will take that harder picking force.

    So, if just walking, like @ festivals, one shoulder strap, as suggested in the original post above, may be fine..
    Calton uses 2 rings, both on the ends of the latch side, so would carry OK in that...

    I have one, I left it as is , maybe talcum powder your hand if it's sticky...

    Humidity taken in, causes swelling of wood ... arch gets higher, distance further, so string tightened...

    + being such a short scale length, it's more noticeable.
