    The only "The Gibson" logos I see on eBay are from the 50's or 60's. I dont see any from the teens. A models from the teens that did have a logo would have mother of pearl inlay, not a decal or...

    I am pretty sure what I am seeing is a visible gap between the back and the ribs with glue strands. I think the back was removed at some point and re glued. But I could be wrong.

    James, that is indeed some beautiful persimmon you have there. I have never seen a mandolin made from it but a few years ago a couple of friends in Durham NC were making banjo pots from it.

    I have played a Waterloo and thought it was a bit bright. I would explore Crystal Forest, Sawshyn, used Flatiron army-navy mandolins before I bought a Waterloo.

    Thanks Bob. After 30 years as a professional luthier, my wife and I retired to St Augustine where I volunteer at the Heritage Boatworks at the St. Augustine Lighthouse.
