Re: One pick to rule them all

I've tried a few but seem to gravitate towards the Jim Dunlop Jazz II.

    Re: Smooth Jazz Mandolin

Yes. I'm familiar with Don's Vibe record. It's a great recording but still more old school traditional jazz. Thanks again for the suggestions. I'm slowly coming to the conclusion that there may not...

    Re: Smooth Jazz Mandolin

Thanks for the replays so far. I guess I'm looking for something more Funk, R&B influenced. Maybe it just doesn't exist.
If it was a guitar player it would be more like Ken Navarro, Ray Obiedo, Paul...

    Smooth Jazz Mandolin

I'm a fan of all sorts of music including what some refer to as "Smooth Jazz" - think Fourplay, George Benson, Rippingtons, etc. Are there any recordings of this type that anyone might recommend?

Re: Review of new NS micro tuner.

I agree with all of the above. I've had an NS Micro on my mandolin for several weeks now. I used to use the ClearTune app in my iPhone but the NS Micro is way more convenient and very accurate.

I like the Jim Dunlop Jazz I. It's small and not too pointy.

    #6 Barn Dance

Does anyone know where I can find a good tab (or tef file) for #6 Barn Dance?
I just heard this song while checking out some of the videos at The Gray Mandolin site and I'd love to work on it.

Re: D'Addario Introduces NS Micro Tuner

I have the new NS Micro and I love it. Before I got it I was using ClearTune on my iPhone. The NS Micro is simple and accurate and always there and ready to go.

    Re: Use of a Capo

I don't use (or have) a capo. I've noticed that many of the tabs (.tef) files that I get from Mandozine.com will have things like c12 above the tab staff. I'm assuming that this is saying to play the...

I just listened to New Primitive in it's entirety on Spotify and I loved it. In fact, so much so that it prompted me to listen to the One More For The Road album (which is playing as I type this)....
  18. Re: Mandozine "Arpeggios - David Grisman" chart or good alternati

Yes, I am able to open .tef files.

Now I see some of the fingerings indicated in the music notation staff (not the tab staff). However, it does not indicate the complete fingerings. Even so, it...

I'm working with the Grishman Minimum Daily Requirements exercises. Could someone suggest the correct fingering for these? Thanks!

  21. Re: "Mellow" bluegrass recommendations (with Mandolin)

I agreed - "Highway 40 Blues" is a smokin' track. I also love "Don't Let Your Sweet Love Die". It was Ricky and New Grass Revival that spurred my interest in the mandolin. I did a number of shows...
  22. Re: "Mellow" bluegrass recommendations (with Mandolin)

I've gotta check out some of these records. I still find myself listening to Ricky Skaggs "Highways And Heartaches" album. I guess it's not exactly pure Bluegrass but I still dig it.

Re: post a video of yourself

Here's a video from my past. I'm not playing mandolin. I'm playing drums. This is the only tune we did that had a mando in it.
