Thanks so much for running this group, Mark. I will email you to get added to the mail list.
Thanks Again,

I'm going to be coming into some money, and I'm looking at possibly upgrading in the mando department, even though I suck and have a mando I really like.
For years I've been hearing raves about...
Hi, Everyone. It sounds like most of you haven't heard, but they're doing a Spinal Tap sequel, to be released on the 40th anniversary of the original movie. This is not a prank; it's the real thing....
Artisan Guitars in Nashville carries various Hense models. Here's a direct link in their online store.

Charles, hi. Thanks so much for your response. I'm glad to know about Econo Silver Angel. I guess I gave everyone the impression I was in the market for a new mando. I was mainly just curious about...
Thanks to all of you for your info and responses.
I was mainly just curious about the company. I have a J. Bouvier F-hole that I really love, and also a solid backup with an Eastman MD-315. From...
I'm researching getting a new mandolin, roughly in the $1000 range. I'm a bit of a newb, but I keep stumbling across "The Loar" products.
I see they're out of the Bay Area. Are they related to the...
Dan, hi. I know how to do this and have done it dozens of times.
Let me know whether you'd prefer me to post it in the thread or, if not, please PM me and I'll go through it with you.
It's...
I have entry-level Eastman F-style that is pretty hard to beat.

Hope to get to that place once COVID lifts and I can safely travel to Nashville,

If you're talking guitar and not mandolin, I love the little D'Addario soundhole clip-on tuners. It's the same model as their headstock one, with a different clip.

Wow, some terrific suggestions here.
I didn't have time to read the whole thread, but the Mussel Shoals doc is an absolute must-see.

The pictures are a little hard to see, but I believe it's a material called Torlon, a high-performance plastic that's similar to Vespel and is used in aerospace and such. Haven't played one, but...
Thanks to everyone for this discussion. I haven't been on the Cafe in months and just heard about these for the first time. Will have to get one and check it out.

Daniel, sounds like you're on a pick adventure.
I'd second the emotion on Dunlop 207s and Primetones, plus Ultex, then Wegen, Golden Gate and Dawg. That oughta keep you busy for a while.

That's an amazing photo.
Wow!
Mando -- not at all. Guitar -- a bit. I used to play more in song circles, before COVID.

Despite my username, I play more guitar than mando. For the money, I really like the Wegen Bluegrassers and Triangles. I confess I haven't done an A and B with them versus. I tend to stick with one...
Thanks so much, everyone. I will be back later. Forgive my tardiness in getting back to my own thread. I really appreciate all the great insights.
Talk Real Soon & Thanks Again,

Interesting discussion. I generally avoid electronics of any kind in the signal path. I prefer to just buy the best pickup I can afford and run clean. That's me. YMMV.

Eric is a really great guy and is doing some fine work.
I have one of the PEEK picks and like it a lot too.

Hi. Curious about these Flatiron F-5s I hear so much about.
PLEASE NOTE: I am not in a buying position at the moment, no matter how good the deal. Please don't PM me about your Flatiron or any...
I've heard about those. I'll have to give them a try.
Thanks!

My wife is a great piano player, so this is her season.
We have a tradition on Thanksgiving and Christmas. It's not really an official holiday until my wife and her aunt sing "Fat Bottom Girls"...
