Nice tunes and picking Nick! Please post more when you can!
So sad. Prayers for his family. RIP Anthony.
Congratulations to Liam. Steve, thanks for sharing.
To be better specific, I use an old handkerchief. It’s very thin.
Just take a rag and slide it between the frets and the strings.
Yes, Wayne played with three fingers for along time. Do what works for you.
Sam, I think the one sold at Greg Boyd’s are plated brass. It doesn’t take much to fit a cover. Also beeswax also works well to help keep a cover on.
Charley, I have the sides bent and I'm working on the top.
The stamped tailpiece can be bought ay many placed online. E-bay, Greg Boyd's, Stew-mac, etc. The sides of your cover can be adjusted to fit the replacement.

Nice octave Dave. Did you slot the fretboard yourself?
I really enjoyed your tune. Nice and bluesy. Fishers Hornpipe was usually played by fiddlers in the key of F. I tabbed out a mandolin version years ago. It lays out very nicely in F.
That's a good question. The binding certainly doesn't look like the normal side binding. The black line seems wider and is in the center of the binding instead of closer to the sides.
Yes, I'm aware of the many repairs it has had. I just don't think I ever noticed the black line so prominent.
I watched this video today and never noticed the side binding on his mandolin before. The black purfling line seems unusually thick. What do you think?

Nice work Gary. Nice work David.
Thanks, Darby.
If they are built by “the” Vern Bryant, you’d be wise to buy them all. Everyone I’ve ever seen and heard was a killer Loar sounding mandolin.
That is so cool brother!
Happy Birthday Wake Frankfield
This carved much easier than the quilted maple I recently finished. A beautiful piece of koa.

My personal mandolin which is number 50, has an engleman top. It’s one piece, wide, irregular grain, but the ring it had when tapped, is why I used it. I love the woody sound this mandolin has.
Darby, thanks. I love the tone you can get from redwood.
