Thanks. I'm hoping it's just a bad string. I'll update this thread when I figure it out or get it into the luthier. Thanks for the help everybody!

Thanks. I'm hoping it's just a bad string. I'll update this thread when I figure it out or get it into the luthier. Thanks for the help everybody!
it's a fixed bridge. I think its happening with the whole course. I have to double check that but I'm pretty sure both strings are choking. No sustain at all. I can't see any ruts on the 5th fret at...
ok thanks. It sounds like I need to take the strings off to do this? The raised fret should be higher up on the fretboard I imagine to interfere with the problematic note?
Hi there. I had a strange thing crop up suddenly with my Trinity College OM yesterday. The sixth fret on the A string now chokes, buzzes and plays out of tune (like each string is playing a different...
I'm excited for this course. I'm working out whether to use mandolin style fingering or one finger per fret so for now trying to learn most things both ways when I can. Just picked this up after...
I do like the sound of the Eastman for sure. I like the tone of both really and appreciate their differences, having only heard the Eastman in demo videos. I grabbed this because locally I wouldn't...
I told my girlfriend when we found the first one that I bet there are others because the whole family played and made recordings. I'm wondering if there are even more somewhere from the rest of the...
Would you recommend the Eastman Octave Mandolin?
Oh, I did want to clarify one thing. I would tune the mandola strings on it as you normally would tune the OM?
This gives me a good idea of what to expect. I contacted the Appalachian Bluegrass Shoppe and they said they could do this work and determine whether they could use a premade bridge or would have to...
Thank you all for the responses. This is great information. My first thought was that I would probably have to get another Bridge for it. Your post definitely confirms that for me. I thought I had...
Definitely keeping it! My girlfriend just discovered another one too! I have no idea what it even looks like yet, but can't wait to see what it is.
Hi, not sure if this a question best asked in one of the other sections but I just bought a Trinity College octave mandolin locally. It has a floating bridge and I think the intonation is a little...
Thanks! I did actually tune it up at first. I got lucky thankfully that nothing like that happened. The strings are loosened now though until I can take it in to the luthier.
Thanks for all the information and feedback, everyone! I was able to meet up with Mark yesterday and he was able to shed a lot of light on this A-jr. He was able to recommend a luthier in the area...
Thanks, Mark! I'll PM you when I get chance later. I'm actually headed up to Chuck's today because I need to get something, I was going to bring the mandolin but sounds like I don't need to. I'd...
Hi, I used to play mandolin in high school over 30 years ago and loved it, but ended up becoming a jazz double bassist by profession. I've always had it in the back of my head that I would pick up...
