Awesome! I love my Octofone, was just playing it this afternoon.
Varnish mandolins always cost more, I suppose there is a lot more work involved.
They know what my wife and I discuss.
Copperfish is correct. So far he's selling gin, as it will take some years before the whiskey is aged.

You guys remember my friend Sim Daley, protégé of Charlie Derrington, former honcho at Gibson, and maker of the wonderful Daley mandolins; he moved back to his beloved Cornwall a couple years ago to...
Wonderful instrument, beautifully played!
The El Fantasma. But it's close!
I recently bought one of Ken's "El Fantasma" mandolins, and I love it. It is absolutely gorgeous and sounds wonderful, deeply mellow and resonant with mucho chop. I also bought his first "Econo A"...
That is a late 70s model A700. You got a great deal!
Wow, that's WAY cheaper than mine was, and less than half of Gruhn's appraisal of mine.
Thanks to both of you!
I am not sure mine is a Martin, I believe it is a Regal.
Thanks. I don't need them to be exactly the same, one-piece backplate would be fine. I am missing both the plate(s) and the tuners. They have been replaced with a set of regular A-style tuners with a...
I just bought an old Martin-style flattop (bent-top) mandolin with replacement tuners. It originally had full-backplate tuners, like these:
161148
Anybody know where I can find a set of these...
I have had no such problems with mine, in fact no problems at all. The tailpiece is fine on mine; the tuners are not the smoothest, but they work fine and do not slip, so I have not changed them yet....
I absolutely love mine. It is a wonderful instrument, I would not hesitate to buy again. I want a matching F5!
Really, I Don't. I would have to sit down and figure it out. God has been good to me!
Guys, this thing is awesome. I don't know how many mandolins I own, and this is one of the best. Working on a video.
Got my Econo A today...it is a HOSS! Pics and video up soon.
You betcha!
Woohoo! This one is coming home to Tennessee!
I have #45, a lovely two-point with translucent black finish. A dandy mandolin!
I have Dudenbostel armrests on about eight mandolins. I love them. The damping footprint is very small, way smaller than my big ole arm.
Not yet, but he is working on it. Once he sells his house near Nashville, he will be leaving. He has ONE last mandolin for sale, a beautiful black-top F5; I Have played it, and it is a great...
Thanks! I have been looking for that article.
