Re: Humidity in Case vs Room

I have guitars on the wall and one with a hygrometer and it takes about 2 days, for the inside of the guitar to adjust to a 10% change in ambient.

I once tried to put 5 guitars on a stand, inside...

    Re: New/old Mandriola.

Yes the back looks ok but there are defects. Many MOP inserts on the edge are missing, the scratchplate is lifting and on the right
lower side the top is lifting.

    Re: Courting Is a Pleasure

Wonderful. How far back Celtic is it? It sounds almost medieval to me.

Nice to have a slow piece. many pieces/players give the impressionn that it is only about speed and not so much about the...

Re: Floor stand for octave mandolin

It fits in a simple ukulele stand but is not so secure. Or in my classical guitar stand, which can be adjusted in width and the covering makes the mandolin stay without sliding

I am running into one strange instrument after the other.
I bought a mandolin, found a mandola and was offered an amazing deal on his octave mandolin as well.
I bought a banjo mandolin but sold it,...

Re: Humidity in Case vs Room

If you insist on humidifying in the case, use those humidifiers that keep the rh% around 50, They can both release and absorb humidity.

I would just have brought them at 50% and then put them in...

  15. Re: Cost of sending a mandolin from US to EU?

    How much?

The problem is that most sellers don't want to discuss shipping, they just do as usual, as the customer pays!! And he does, twice, because VAT is calculated from the buying price PLUS...
  16. Cost of sending a mandolin from US to EU?

Does it really cost 200 usd to send a mandolin from US to Europe or are the sellers(or the site calculators) charging for handling as well.

I often see a nice mandolin for sale in the US but the...

    A little new arrived.

These rarities don't come often, so you have to seize the opportunity, although I haven't even restored the previous one.

But it found good company. :-)

    Re: Restoration of a Silvestri

I just tried my UV lamp for amber finding and there is no fluorescence from shellac. It turns a bit yellow but so does lacquer from a can and grease.
  22. Re: Looking for a Mandola and I need some advice.

  23. Re: Looking for a Mandola and I need some advice.

I think the best price/quality is to be had with the Hora mandola. It's amazing what you get for that little money. And if you decide to buy a more expensive one, you can play this while you save for...
