The main problem with the stock Eastman tuners isn't that they're necessarily bad...it's just that they're only a 14:1 ratio. The Grover 309 tuners that Stewmac used to sell were 18:1, a vast...

...and now it's been removed....until next time.
Very nice! Glad you posted that...it's been so many years since the movies came out that I had forgotten that simple, haunting tune existed, and I never would have thought of applying it the...
Well, I just switched to EJ72 Mandola strings on my MDO-305, having previously used the EJ80s. I've got mixed feelings. While they've improved the "flubberiness" (is that even a word?) of the G, I...
That sounds great! Nice tune, I've never heard it before, I'll have to give it a try myself.
@Russ Donahue, I've heard so many people say they like the mandola strings on the MDO-305, but I...
Thanks for the feedback. He just called to say he got frustrated with it and is returning it, so no point in pursuing it. Some people are just not cut out for cheap mandolins :))
While the mandolin I play is pretty good quality (an Eastman) I recently sent my brother a cheap "Stupid Deal of the Day" mandolin as something to mess around with (he's an accomplished guitarist).

What an intricately done video! Thanks for taking the time put that one together!

A little holiday gift for the group. This is Greensleeves (What Child is This) performed by me using a Taylor 322ce guitar and an Eastman MDO-305 Octave Mandolin. I've also used a Digitech Trio Plus...
I just replaced the stock 14:1 tuners on both my Eastman MD-305 and MDO-305 with Grover 309Ns. Bushings are the same size, and didn't need to replaced. Not all of the screw holes lined up, and I...
Congratulations to Paul from Deltona! What a fabulous prize for the holiday season!
I'm new to the mandolin (octave mandolin, actually), having come over from guitar. Although I have a violin, I've never been any good at it...I just don't have the ear for unfretted instruments (a...
Hi, all. New to the group, and new to the mandolin. I just purchased an Eastman MDO-305 Octave Mandolin last week, and here's my first attempt at posting a tune (although I didn't quite stick the...
Astro, could you share any info on the pick guard you chose for your Eastman? Thanks in advance.
