I was surfing Reverb today and found a pretty clean old 1918 A4. It said it had laminated maple back and sides. Can that be? When did Gibson start laminating B&S on mandolins. I'm curious. Thanks
Recommended exercises on not digging in, especially on faster tunes. Just a light touch, what some call picking just the top of the string?

I found the answer to my question. It stands for Special Edition. Which means that it was made for the Mandolin Store when it was in AZ. Bruce is such a nice man and seems so anxious to help.
I am curious what the SE signifies in the Weber Bighorn. Could it be that the spruce top is Engelman?

Who makes an A style mandolin like this? Of all of them that I have played, this is my favorite fit. even with a deeper and wider body. just looking and nurturing the MAS!
