  1. Re: AI and music: Billie Eilish, Sheryl Crow and Jon Bon Jovi

Don't see a problem here. Surely AI generated music will only appeal to AI and true HUMANS will be able to tell the difference? Or maybe we are all AI?

    Re: playing late and drinking

Yes Bren I think that's where my most enjoyment comes from playing, you have nothing to prove, the alcohol flows, reality disappears and you become lost in your own music which my cat loves, never...

    Re: playing late and drinking

Bren, yes mate I posted after a "bad" night in the local pub back room with just myself and a concertina player. Felt a bit depressed until I got back home, a few more drinks on a Winter's night sat...

    Re: My Journey so far.

    Hi Tom,
I live a few miles south of Hadrians but on the same island. I know from being a modest guitar player for most of my 67 years what you may be going through. My experience is similar to yours...

    Re: playing late and drinking

Great replies there. My conclusion is that for some folk having a drink before or during playing, wherever you are, does enhance the experience in a good way. For example, I have trouble in the...

    playing late and drinking

Hi, late hear in the UK but still awake and playing. My interest is in playing and drinking, does your playing improve in quality, happiness, awareness or am I deluded?

What the hell. I have had a Gibson teens oval on loan from a friend for the last 3 weeks and it has hit me just like the guy in the video. Unfortunately he is not parting with it but I managed to...

Re: Getting Started in 2024 - What's The Move?

Hi, I am in the UK and been reading through your thread. For what it's worth I would try a Gibson, may be 1920's or teens, try a few. Over here there aren't many but over there you will find plenty. ...

Re: Mid tier Mando that will hold its value

Agree with the Gibson, find a good A and you would probably want to keep it anyway, you could throw a National RM1 in the pot too, would do most things and loud!

    Re: whatever you play

    Hi Jim,
The Gibson I have on loan at the moment is by far the best mandolin of the four I have played. Difficult to quantify that, my Stagg is louder and maybe set up better for the style I play so...

    Re: whatever you play

Hello Jim, guitars! only the two, an Epiphone jumbo from '75 and a Rob Armstrong 80's.

Have to confess, I have been playing a Gibson A recently, a friends mandolin and to my ears is more pleasing...

Re: Wonderful Gibson 1910's Oval Holes (no love?)

Interested in the sound difference in your mid-mo (flat) and Gibson(carved) and if each warrants a place within a particular genre, or is it just personal preference?

Re: Wonderful Gibson 1910's Oval Holes (no love?)

I am in the UK where these Gibson's aren't plentiful and trying before buying can be a problem when the mandolin is some distance away. So, what makes a dud sound wise and if they are all constructed...

    Re: Peter Coombe A oval

Just been reading your review on the Eastman 404Bk, very impressive. It seems like you think it compares well in tone over the old Gibsons and boutique mandolins with modern playability for a...
  24. Re: Can someone please identify/share info on this Mandolin?

The Breedlove appears to have Kim Breedlove signature on the label so possibly Bend built, also has the serial number so should be traceable, seems cheap at that price.
  25. Re: Can someone please identify/share info on this Mandolin?

Noticed these two on the same site that appear to be reasonably priced:
