Happy birthday Scott! Congrats on another trip around the sun!
My wife asks "how much is it? We need it".
Here's my current set-up. I'll probably remove the Klon as it boosts the Pre-amp too much and doesn't give it a very natural boost through the PA.

Happy Birthday, to my birthday buddy Scott Tichenor!
I've played that Mandocello. It has a Virzi and is a monster of a mandocello.
Nick, I sent you a private message.
John Paul Jones has the most amazing Triple neck - Mandolin - Octave mandolin (or Mandola) and 8 string Bass, made by the amazing Andy Manson.

10-8 bars. Crooked!
Looks great Jacob!
If you're going electric, I'd vote for a 4 sting tenor/octave mandolin. With no more than a 23" scale length and no less than 21.5"
As for woods... Alder is a very common wood to use for...
Thanks Jim, you are correct I did win that year playing Bright Days. I've always liked how that tune uses the full spectrum of low end as well as the high end. Which makes it a perfect tune for...
I do a mix of making my own. I buy the studs, thumb wheels and the top saddle and make the base. Especially since I prefer a full contact base and that way I can also make it exactly the right height...
I was recording a couple of tunes for a customer so they could hear their mandolin in the white before I put finish on it, so I figured I could kill two birds with one stone and record a couple of...
A few years ago I designed and made a mandolin for a woman in Ashville, North Carolina who has small hands. I designed the mandolin with a shorter scale length of 13-3/32” vs. the standard 13-7/8"...
For the record, I'm not selling anything. I'm just offering these to anyone interested. Norman's tunes and specifically this album, hold a special place in my heart. I just want these tunes...
I just found what looks like an autographed copy of a Lonzo and Oscar record at my local record store for $4.

This has always been my favorite version. These old guys called it the Tennessee Rag. (Starts at 2:48)

The F5 had an initial price of $200, and then was raised to $250 in 1923.
At 0:23 and 2:11 in the video, they do a close-up of the mandolin and you can see the strings. The G and D have high octave strings like a 12 string guitar.
You beat me to it. :)
Too bad that mandolin Chris is playing can't stay in tune.
I understand your PAS. I'm finally starting to slow down a bit on my pedal acquisitions. I still have an overdrive acquisition problem. I have 6 overdrive/fuzz pedals on my board and a couple...
I use and love my nano POG from Electro-Harmonix. I love that it can do an octave high and low at the same time as well as a dry signal. Plus you can dial in how much of the high or low octave and...
I have one of the new Fender Mandocasters with the pickup replaced with an Almuse pickup and it's great.
Honestly, when I want to play electric I tend to play a 4 string octave/tenor guitar....
