    My octave mandolin, an Ashbury E32 has a moderately heavy neck while using the strap setup that I have.
    Iíve learned to use my pick forearm pressure to push against the straps to hold the instrument...

    Might be good to go to a gypsy violin site, check their notation, convert it to TAB and (important) try to figure out a Django style picking pattern.

    Here’s an Italian tune played a bit differently in different parts of Italy.
    I’ve included notation and TAB to show various pick direction options.

    So, what do you think? Is staccato down-picking...

    Try abcnotation.com with a clever search word, then go to the top of the page of an example tune (especially one in a foreign language, hence clever;) ) then check the link at the top of the page...

    With B,GBe I’d be tempted to start at the top string ‘e’ because the higher notes tend to dominate the melody, and call that the tonic.
    B on the second string gives you tonic plus it’s fifth.
