    I think it is perhaps the nature of string gauge and length, using the luthiers knot reduced this problem on my mandolin and making sure the bridge slots are proper.

    My 2017 Weber Yellowstone has opened up wonderfully. It has great volume but can be played quietly as well with no loss of tone. This one has a red spruce top and is a bluegrass monster.

    They are made in Bend. Call them and see if they have one you can try. I have a Weber Yellowstone and live in Albany, Oregon, but that far from Prineville.
