Female. I don't play for a living, but for fun.
Seriously?? If I wrote what I really thought here my account would get locked. And you preface the most obnoxious thing you can possibly say with a request for no "trolls." You sir make me want to...
I only have two, the Kentucky that was my first mandolin, and my F5G. The Gibson is perfect, I don't need another one, I love it.
I do, however, can't seem to get enough banjos or guitars :)
I have had excellent experiences buying used at Guitar Center. I bought my F5G from Nashville, had it sent to NY and I just bought a Stelling Golden Cross banjo from FL. You have thirty days to...
I still like the Fender teardrop picks that I have been using for the past twenty years on electric guitar. I have gotten lectured a few times not to use these. As long as you can stand the pressure,...
Thanks for posting. I'm happy to hear he is doing well. I can stop worrying now :)
I am just hoping he is okay, because we saw him a few months ago with the Boxcars and this was a drastic difference. Sometimes that's related to illness, so my initial thought was of concern. He's a...
We just saw Adam Steffey play at the East TN State University bluegrass concert. Does anyone know if he's okay? He looks like he's about half the size. I didn't believe it was him until he started...
I was able to play a few Webers against a few Gibson mandolins. I liked the neck on the Gibson a lot more than the Weber necks. The Gibsons had faster, thinner necks. But, if you want that style...
This is my favorite YouTube video.
Congratulations!
I've been playing banjo most of the time. As far as the Yates, I prefer my '27 TB-1 Gibson. Why buy something that is trying to sound like an old Gibson? Just get an old Gibson.
I'm getting...
This is kind of mandolin related...I bought Doyle Lawson's Yates banjo, it even has his name inlayed.
Does anyone have an idea of monthly or yearly production over at Gibson for their mandolins?
I would buy in person so you can play the instrument and not worry about any issues.
If you don't like how the mandolin sounds, don't buy it for any amount of money unless you just plan on selling/trading it. Make sure it is real though. It's too cheap so I would question it.
Is it okay to honor tradition here? I don't want to see a bluegrass band with a vocalist who does not play an instrument. The difference with a bluegrass crowd is that you have a much larger...
I had the chance to play two Loars at IBMA for over a half hour. That was one of the best days of my life.
Realistically, the best mandolin was an F body Duff since I could never buy a Loar.
I have never seen one that inexpensive. I was going to say 3k is a good price. I would think he made a mistake at $2400. If you don't buy it, someone else a few minutes later most likely will.
Are you saying Gibson isn't making mandolins or just that the Mandolin Store is no longer carrying them?
What exactly is considered lowballing? If a mandolin is advertised for 10k, what would be a low ball offer? Also, sometimes things are priced well and sometimes things are overpriced. I saw an...
I spoke with a violin player this morning and the glue on his violin had started to melt and his violin was coming apart.
What else goes into the master model?
(Thanks everyone for the info!)
I am wondering what are the differences between an F5G and a Fern besides binding, a pick guard and different inlay on the headstock? Since I don't like pick guards and wanted the flower pot inlay, I...
Thanks everyone for the mandolin advice!
