I'm in the market currently for a nice inexpensive (under about $800) mandolin that would be nice for classical, jazz and more folky stuff (non-bluegrass material.) I want something with a nice warm...
Anyone have one of these, or played one? I'm looking for something that I can get under $1000, and I want something that has a really mellow and warm tone. It doesn't have to have a lot of volume, I...
Any new news on when the East Coast Symposiums will start, or where they will be?

No, I'm still trying to scrounge some money from my parents. Has anyone tried these Sarod picks? I know there was a topic about them recently, have you experienced and less pick click?
It's in the Master Anthology of Mandolin Mel Bay Book, but I don't think there's tabs for it, only notation. I learned it a while ago, you might want to pick up that book.
In the beginning of the topic, I said that I wasn't talking about the click of the pick on the fretboard extension, but the pick on the strings.
I try to mic the soundhole as opposed to above the strings, but I still get quite a bit of pick click. Has anyone used golden gate picks, then switched to wooden ones and experienced less pick click...
I never hit the fretboard with my pick, it's just the sound of the pick hitting the strings coming up and down, and I can't figure out how to get rid of it. I know that it's inevitable for there to...
When I play, I find myself making a lot of pick clicking noise, which I absolutely hate. #And I'm not talking about the pick hitting the fretboard on the extension (which my Rigel doesn't have), I...
Well, that does mean something in sign language . .

Have you tabbed out the B Part yet, I'm too lazy to learn it myself. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
I don't know too much, since Rigel is being "purposefully mysterious" about giving out information. What I do know is in October, Rigel is going to release a gypsy/Django style mandolin, and it's...
Am I the only one who is extremely excited about the new Gypsy/Django style mandolin that Rigel is coming out with, dubbed the Q-95? I'm really curious as to features and such that it will be...
I was looking really hard at one of those Holst's, but didn't end up getting one because at the time, they didn't have an approval period policy. I dont know if they've adopt a policy for that yet,...
Does anyone have any experience with these, and dot they work as well as the regular Tone Gards. I only ask because they are much cheaper, and look more comfortable.
I have a few songs recorded that I could put on there, nothing by Thile though. Give me a while, and I'll get my stuff together. I'm just so busy. I have school, soccer practice (4 hours a day), and...
There aren't any pieces of miracle advice I can give you, just work a lot on the crosspicking that's involved, and stay as loose and relaxed as possible. Work on it really, really slow at first, or...
I have memorized and can play up to speed:

Fisher's Hornpipe
House of Tom Bombadil
Raining at Sunset
Aldaraanian Melody
Kneel Before Him
Ah Spring
When Mandolins Dream
I don't know anything about their mandolin pickups, but my Dad had one put into his dobro that he had built for him by Bill Blue down in Florida. He said it's way better than the Fishman version,...
Did Chris say anything more about his solo CD? I heard something about he might have a vocal solo CD, or did he say it was going to be instrumental like the rest.
