    So I got this K1 a few months back. It plays and sounds great!
    It has a lot of well documented repairs that were done by Bernie Daniel. There is a great thread on how he repaired the sagging top....

    I've never had a problem taking mine as carry on. Last time I flew (American Airlines), they let a guy carry on his electric bass in a soft case and he put it in the overhead storage...no questions...

    I ended up buying a double tennis racquet bag for my old Gibson. It fit perfect and now when I travel I'll have a shoulder strap to carry it.

    Looks just like the one I had. Solid spruce top, laminated back and sides. It was a pretty heavy mandolin.

    Mine measures 1 1/8" at the nut, 13 3/8 scale length, Flat fretboard, with a V shaped neck and all solid wood construction.
    There is a video on youtube showing the construction of one.
