    Re: Unsigned Loar on Reveb

Many different markets. As a player, the signed label is worth $0 to me, but as a collector/investor thinking of resale value, quite a lot.

Won't be a choice I'll have to make:)

    Re: Antiqued/distressed instruments?

People do things different from me. I don’t question their taste, usually, and ignore their comments about mine, usually.

I learned that a long time ago.

    Re: Unsigned Loar on Reveb

I suspect inventory control is a contributor. An order would generate a parts bill, each part would be pulled from inventory or manufactured for that batch. Those parts would make ‘x’ instruments. ...

Re: Is It Possible to Fake It?

Of course you can fake it, sometimes more successfully than other times. That’s the nature of improvisation. The opposite would be playing a precomposed break. What fun is that?

    Chord tones...
  6. Re: 1903 postacard showing how to not play a mandolin

That's actually from the classic 'Fettucine Modern Method of Mandolin', in the chapter on the advanced 'reverse overlap' hand position, mastered by so few.:)

    Re: Dr. Arm for Mandolin

Outsourcing arm rests seems a bit much to me, “Assembled in USA”. Looks like most other arm rests, no price savings.
  8. Re: Latest ignorant question: Bout like "boot" or like boxing mat

Subtle humor, or attempts thereof, often escapes so many people.:)

    Re: Scaggs "Daniel Prayed"

Can’t really pinpoint the break section you describe.

David McLaughlin’s break on the JMB version is really clean, clear distinct notes.

    Both are great versions.

    Re: Unsigned Loar on Reveb

I’m holding out for a signed one, but it has to be cherry red, like the F4s.

    Not holding my breath, orcwallet:)

Re: How to practice Circle of 5ths

Here's a screenshot of my exercise. The screenshot is the diatonic chords per key. I rotate the practice via the circle of fifths, sharp keys one day, flat keys the next. SimonDS's chart above is...

Re: How to practice Circle of 5ths

I wrote a simple iRealPro chart for all the chords in a key. The last 5 chords are in the circle.

44773366225511, 7 bars. One bar chording, one bar chord tones. Cycle through the circle, maybe...

If they sound the same, they are the same.

I believe a diminished fifth has 6 semitones, C# to Ab has 7.

I guess I don’t understand. On the homepage there’s a set of playlists. Have you download the playlists and imported them?
