Indeed, wonderful tune whether it's 50 or 150 years old.

Can I recommend Gibson put out a new bass model?

I guess there is no real, baseline melody version. Each of the mentioned versions are great and listened to many wonderful versions on youtube. Each one is heavily embellished from the basic melody....
Thanks. Good one but missing the A7 in the A section. Seems to be the more modern version all the cool kids are playing.
Poking around trying to find a definitive verion, both recorded and/or written out. Of course there are variations for this and every tune. Just haven't been able to find any one that's consistent....
The whole 3 season series is sublime. Cast, writing, production and the celtic acoustic music is the perfect backdrop. Perfect pandemic binging.
My friend was cleaning out his mom's house as she was moving to senior housing. He called me asking if I knew anything about mandolins as they found his grandfather's old mando in closet since he...
5 people with acoustic instruments and 1 microphone = badass. This will inspire young musicians to pick up instruments again and create music.

This is right down the street from where I live. To think of how many guitarist played their 1st guitar that was built here is amazing. Sad to see it sit idle with all that history oozing from it....
Transcribed and posted the music here a couple weeks ago. Trying to get up to speed, 120 bpm. (Take 106!) Will continue trying to smooth the edges and play relaxed. Ain't easy. Also, quick comparison...

Always looking to learn bits that catch my ear. Like these little bits from Skaggs. Getting them up to speed. Have at it. Enjoy.

@Poul Hansen. This one hurt. So you think there's hope? I don't know what they used for finish in 1925. Just don't want to do anything and cause more harm. If we get a stain on a rug, we don't call...
The cheaper Epiphone to gig with. Plays great, plugs in. Sound is passable. Anything happened to it would be no biggie and totally replaceable. The Gibson for studio, personal use at home or with...
I sure do get a lot of mileage out of this pic. John Hartford's Mammoth book of fiddle tunes. Should keep you busy for a while.

As much as one has to practice playing fast, I think you also have to practice listening fast.
I'll take 2. Thank you.
The magic is when the masters play fast/difficult but doesn't seem it. Ricky Skaggs, Mark O'Connor, etc. A little clip where I'm working up a Sam Bush bit with a metronome. It's OK-ish, but at the...
Had me going there for a second. My dyslexia reading the thread title thought it said Santa is real.
