Recommended Strings for a Martin Flatback

Hello everyone,

Having searched the forums and found this topic only once or twice brushed upon but never fully discussed, I was wondering what strings people have used or recommend for Martin Flatbacks. My father recently came across a stellar deal for a 1919 Style B which needs a new set of strings, and while I would intuitively think that lights would be the way to go, would it be able to support mediums? I've found cases for and against for vintage mandos, but with no clear consensus.

Also, which brands/wounds/materials would you recommend for one? The 80/20 sets that Martin sold for them, flatwounds, EXP phosphors, etc.?

I'd start with the Martin M400's which are 80/20 bronze strings (.10/.14/.24/.34) that go for $3.99 at my local store. I might experiment with GHS and D'Addario, but I'd stick to lights.

I like GHS A250s for lights. If you got cash, TI Mittels are nice too.
