Thread: Truss rod cover

    Default Truss rod cover

Anyone have a sharp outline of a Gibson bell style truss rod cover? I want to cut a bunch out on a laser. I'd be willing to send you a dozen in exchange for the drawing. I can't use a picture. It has to be a line drawing. I have no CAD skills.

What format does the drawing need to be in Andrew?

It doesn't matter to me. They import it in to Corel draw. PDF, DXF, jpeg It just needs to be a sharp line. A tracing doesn't do it otherwise I'd simply do that.

I just want a drawing not the actual cover. Surely someone on here has some CAD skills that might want a truss rod cover in exchange. Send me a drawing of a custom truss rod cover too and I'll make that for you. Benefit of having a friend with a laser.

I'm not sure how to get these files to you. It doesn't seem I can attach them to this post. I have 4 different formats I would guess one of them will work.

Laser cutting them is no good, gibson covers have a 45 degree edge on them

I know. I could also use the template on my cnc if I wanted the angle cut ones.

If you have the capability to cut them on the cnc then surely you have the capability to draw them up.

I mentioned the cnc earlier because we originally laser cut our pick guards / truss rod covers until we found all the flaws that were occuring because of the use of the laser, example squared edge , burnt smell, lightly stained tops etc

After you start using cnc to do them, they are actually pretty easy and very quick to manufacture

Why not just buy one from StewMac and have them duplicate it.
