Default I'm a blue chip believer and a new mando pickin king

Well I finally took the plunge and bought me a blue chip TPR40 and well what I got to say is I'm really impressed with the tone of it, It is awesome and really lets my old Gibson F-7 conversion sound superior than it ever has. Brought out a fuller tone and sound. The notes seem to flow together in a better way I guess I don't know what to say what I'm thinking. I've used the V-pick tremolo for a few years now and that gives more of a treble sound, for sure on the mids and highs. I still like that but on this mandolin I've found that the highs might've been too high with the V so Blue Chip it is.
I think the Blues are worth every penny, think of what we pay for our instruments why shouldn't we have a great pick?
Very Happy with the Blue Chip.

I have to say that I tried one a few weeks ago that belonged to a friend and wasn`t impressed at all at what it did for my mandolins, the pick that I usually used sounded just as good or better and they only cost 3 for a buck...But I am just one person and it`s "different strokes for different folks"...If you like yours, that is great, good luck with it, any pick should sound OK on a good F-7...

I think the price is what originally held me back but then got to thinking what I've spent on some mandolins,35 bucks for a pick aint bad at all. My 7 sounds great with any pick but with the blue chip it sounds way better! I wish I was smart enough to figure out how to do a comparison video and post it on here?

A non-video - just audio - test would be better. Less chance of 'inserting' preconceptions...

I like them too, by the way, and I do think they suit some mandolins very, very well. I find them somewhere in the middle between a Pro-Plec (quite dark) and Fender Heavy (brighter).

I've been using the BlueChip off and on for a little over a year now and I still don't know what to think of it. I like that it seemingly lasts forever but the tone is almost too bright for my tastes, depending on the piece of course. I still love my ProPlec 1.5mm triangle that I've used for over a decade but I think I will, eventually, switch to the BC exclusively. Playing at just the right angle can cut down on the brightness enough I just need to get used to it.

I tried one. Very nice pick but to me not worth the extra money. Lately I'm liking the Wegen large triangle pick.

I love the BC. Didn't like that wood pick folks were talking about a few weeks ago. I'm sure I'll be trying the McCray pick soon enough too.

I struggle with comparisons such as " compared to what I paid for my mando" and "compared to what fiddlers pay for their bows".

Should the comparison be " compared to what I paid for my other picks"?

(I've paid between £0 and £10, so a BC is probably coming sooner or later, I'm just struggling with how to rationalise it logically!)

Since I started using BC picks I haven't bought any other picks. As long as I don't lose them, I'll eventually amortize the cost.

You're right. The pick is free. That's just the shipping.
