Default Extended Irish Bouzouki/Cittern Tunings (DGDAD and GDADG)

Just an idle musing but considering these two tunings (DGDAD and GDADG) seem quite common for citterns in irish trad I was surprised a google search doesn't show any results for combining the two as DGDADG on guitar. Not a million miles away from DADGAD I suppose.

That makes sense. I once messed with a tuning from Martin Carthy for guitar, CGDGAD. For my cittern, I've been using CGDAE some, and DGDAD a bit. The former is all fifths, so that makes all the intervals the same across the fingerboard. The latter has more ringing notes. Wish I had two to keep in each tuning. Working on a second instrument. Shorter scale. Thinking of a six course. Maybe GDGDGD. Maybe that Carthy tuning. Anybody using that?

It also struck me that DGDADG could easily be moved to DGDGDG for a fourths and fifths cittern type of tuning.

I need to make a strings order so will get Eagle to make up a custom set and try it out on my 12 string and report back.

The blurb for Doc Rossi's celtic cittern book says:

Guitarists can play all of the tunes in this book on the guitar by tuning C F C G C F low to high and putting a capo at the second fret. The lowest line in the tablature then corresponds to the fifth string.
Which would be DGDADG though the low string isn't used.

That's the tuning that I typically use on my 12-string cittern. Here's a clip of how it sounds:

Sounds excellent and if the tuning needed an endorsement I can't think of anyone better to give one. Thank you

Ah but you could make use of the Low String by extending your Chords.
