Hard to beat that first David Grisman Quintet album. It is a classic that defined a new genre. It inspired a lot of us, from my generation, to started playing the mandolin.....and was much like Thile is today, for those coming up now.

As far as bluegrass goes Appalachia Swing! is pretty amazing. Lots the Kitchen Tapes too.
On the more contemporary tip I love Greensky Bluegrass - Handguns. Oh and about a million other albums.

The Garcia Grisman " acoustic disc" album from 1999 has some fine pickin' on it I say, fine pickin'!
Marla Fibish and Jimmy Crowley - Morning Star
Mike Marshall: Tasting the Wine Country; featuring Paul McCandless on soprano sax and double reeds.
Too many to think of but three I keep going back to are Cantabile by Butch Baldassari and John Mock, Walk Along John by John Reischman, and the aforementioned The Morning Star by Marla Fibish and Jimmy Crowley. Always such a pleasure re-visiting any of those three.
Thanks! I rather like that one myself.
Skaggs and Rice and Dawg duos have been it for me
Andy Leftwich does some tasty picking on one of Dailey and Vincent's albums (the title of which escapes me right now).
The Mando Boys Quartet .. 2 of them + a Mandola And Mandocello..
