    Default New Washburn Two Point

Has anyone played one of these yet? I'm thinking of getting a new mando, after New Years, and was wondering if anyone has tried one out yet. I love two points, and have an old Epiphone two point, with an oval hole. I love it, but it's not loud enough for bluegrass, so it doesn't get to come out to gigs very often. Any help would be great!!

Are you talking about this one? http://www.mandolincafe.com/news/pub...s_001587.shtml. It looks cool for sure.

Yep, that's it. I've heard some good feedback on Washburns, but it's always nice to hear what folks think.

Can't speak to the two point, but my 2010 Washburn f was PLENTY loud for even the rowdiest bluegrass jam.

    IMO washburns are under appreciated.

I don't have the 2-point, but IMHO the Washburn F I do have definately does NOT have much pop, I think due mostly to excessive finish and tone bars the size of redwoods. That's why its been relagated to autograph mandolin. But you may have better luck with the 2-point.

I played one briefly over the weekend, along with the F-style that looks pretty much the same. I was underwhelmed. I think the two-point was $649 or $699. It was hanging next to a Gretsch that was less than half the price but sounded much better.

I like the look of the Washburn 2 point too. I had an F style long ago and got rid of it.

I have an old Epiphone 2 point that has a great tone and sound, just not very loud for Bluegrass, and I have an F style that has a great tone and bark, that's the one that gigs the most. But I just love two points, and really don't have 2 to 3 grand to spend on a custom. I won't be able to get one of these until after the holidays, but just looking for some comment. It's funny that Washburns seem to be kind of shunned here. I guess it's like any Asian made mando. It just depends what ya get, but I do know of a few local guys here who love their Washburns, so I may try them out, with this model.
