Question Did I make out on this one?

Hi Cafe. Now that it's over and I don't alert anyone that can compete with me , I wanted to check and see if I did well on this eBay auction.

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/1998-Ovation...#ht_1036wt_888

In case my link doesn't work....it's a 1998 Ovation MM68 with hardcase and free shipping for $599. It was at a Buy It Now of $779 (until I bid), had 11 watchers, and I would up being the only bid. From other posts on the Cafe I thought these things went for upwards of $800-$1000, and I didn't think I'd win. (Almost didn't want to for fear of wife ) The ease of the win and what I think is a low price for an American-made discontinued Ovation has me almost worried, and had me wondering if there was something you guys know that I don't.

Guitar Center has a blacktop MM68 at the same price, which is reputedly an excellent choice to plug in if such is your intention.

If that one at Guitar Center is new, it's an MM68AX, which is made overseas and is an entirely different animal.

Yes, $600 is a good if not earthshaking price for a USA-made MM68.

I think you got a good deal. I was one of the ones who was watching it since I was curious what it would sell for since I've seen them go from $500 to just over a thousand over the years. I paid about $900 for my first USA made one that was used but pretty new at the time and then a much older USA made one with the round volume control for $550 to serve as a backup. I probably would have jumped on that one you bought if I didn't already have two of them. Great mandolins for playing out plugged in and hope you enjoy playing it.
