Nice understated design, Yaron.
What are the woods?
I'd like to hear a sound clip.

Hi Yaron,
I sent an email to your gmail address. One more question -- looks like it is strung with Thomastik. Are these the heavy gauge octave strings or something else?
Robert A. Margo
A very nice looking instrument. I particularly like the 'assymetrical symmetry' between the soundhole and the fingerboard extension.
...and the off-centre soundhole placement significantly reduces the risk of losing your pick inside
Thanks, Yaron,
I am unfamiliar with the term "bright walnut". Do you mean English walnut, or just light colored wood?
It's very pretty.

Thanks for your compliments Whistler! it took me a lot of work to create this 'assymetrical symmetry' to be understated look as some called it. I am happy that you liked it, and some others, this instrument is made after 2 years of experiments that I made on Octave Mandolin and it becomes an amazing one
Yes, (-: and the picks never fall inside anymore!

yafeh maod, Yaron. do you mind sharing width of bridge and nut? I'm renovating my new octave conversion from baritone uke, cutting down fretboard width, and most of the octaves I can find specifications for are much longer scale lengths. toda rabbah im atah yakol!
Thanks belbein,
I don't mind sharing. the nut width is 39 mm and the string spacing at the bridge is 50mm
Take care, and when you come for a visit drop by to see my instruments

Yaron.

My younger son is applying for Gen Gurion U.'s Aravah program in Desert Studies, down at Keturah. I might well be in your neck of the woods in the fall. I haven't done the Yamim Noraiim b'aretz in ... wow ... decades!

The bad news is that what doesn't kill us makes us stronger. The good news is that what kills us makes it no longer our problem
Hi Yaron,
Beautiful job. I am a real fan of short scale-length OMs like this one and think it's simply beautiful. I like Thomastik Mediums on my short scale-length OM very much. I tried lights and didn't like them nearly as much. I can't tell if you built an induced arch into the top and back, but I am guessing you did. Did you?
Thanks for sharing this with us! Bob
Thanks Belbein, you are more thank welcom to contact me when you are here and be my guest
