Default FLATIRON Model # 1CH Value Estimate?

Hi: I am new to this forum so please forgive any protocol mistakes (at least this time around). I am trying to figure out what the value might be of my FLATIRON mandolin.
    Model # 1CH, Serial # 86123464.

The inside label says handmade in Bozeman, MT. It is a fairly plain A style and I have enjoyed playing it for about 30 years or so but am interested getting a Collins or Breedlove.

If a picture is required, I can snap one and post it up.

Looking forward to joining in other discussions.

    Thanks,

    Jim

with hard shell case, I'd say an easy $600.00.

May want to keep it for a backup though.

    There's a 1993 on Craigslist for $399: http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/msg/4291532108.html
Meanwhile, Guitar Center is asking $699.99 for a 1988: http://www.guitarcenter.com/In-Store...44-i3382659.gc
I think the former looks like a deal while the latter is priced a bit high compared to the two other Flatirons they have in stock, both listed at $499.99.

This one is a '94 cadet, which I think is quite similar. It is has been up on ebay for a couple weeks at $495:

it's a bit more desirable 'cause it's "pre-Gibson," being a 1986. The 5-latch cases are nice and if you have one, it'd be worth more than $500.00. Not sure about the other listings other than at least one is post-Gibson (after late 1987).

I'd agree with Fatt on the $600 value. And I would say keep it as a backup as well. Great mandolins. I had a 1CH for a little while, still have a 1N. I would also recommend the following much read and much loved thread about the Flatiron Pancake mandolins, full of great information:

And if you decide to sell the 1CH along the way, let me know, I might be interested. Thanks!

remember to use light-gauge strings! GHS A-250s match the factory specs perfectly.
