Default Pondering a solid body electric mando...

I was looking at electric solid body mandolins. MAybe as somethings to just have fun with ( I mean even more fun, because I love playing my acoustics). What are peoples thoughts about the different styles, makers, models, etc.? Thanks in advance!!

I have an Eastwood Mandocaster, 8 string which is just about as inexpensive as you can get now, apart from used. Looks like they're going for around $350 online. This looks like a tiny Telecaster guitar. It's nicely made and sounds fine to me. With my Fender Mustang 1 amp I can get a decent acoustic sound, but can also make it wail with the effects.
For wooden musical fun that doesn't involve strumming, check out:

Best place to ask would be the electric mandolin forum.

I bought a JBovier ELS solid body electric for the same reason you are indicating...to have fun. It wasn't too expensive and I think it sounds great. I haven't played much, but some of my guitar-playing relative rocked out on it and liked it a lot.

Either 4 or 8 string. I like the GDAE tuning. I like the look of the Fendr and the Mandocaster. Wish I could find a used Rickenbacker for a reasonable (read that as $500 or less) price. It may be a few monmths before I can afford another mandolin anyway.
I haven't seen the JBovier of heard of the Jonathan Mann. Thanks for the advice so far! Any new thoughts are awesome too. I will check out the "Electric" section of the forum as well.
