Default Probably a silly Tuner question

I am currently using the Fender clip on tuner that came with my first mandolin. Yes, I know its probably not very good, but its ok for now. My question is, which setting "should" I be using? Is has Chromatic, Guitar, Bass, Violin, and one other I can't rmember. I have just been using the chromatic and I just tune GDAE. Is this fine? Should I be using violin since the mandolin is tuned the same? Thanks all!

Truly it won't make much difference .. the chromatic setting covers all the bases and if it works well at that setting use it ... the guitar and violin both have an E A D and G in their tunings so either of these should be fine as well. The bass setting might not work as well if the hertz sensors on the tuner are set up for the bass octave range....... insofar as being "in tune" you are good to go . and that is the point... .. Luck ... R/

Chromatic should sense the whole 88 key range of a Piano.

I use the same tuner. I leave it in the chromatic setting. I like it better than all the other tuners I've used and it's accurate enough for my needs.
