I'm waiting for the more symmetrical teardrop Mandolin Cafe beanie. It only costs $10 because it doesn't have the time-consuming and costly billwork, which is a purely aesthetic feature.

    Metal clasp on the back
ah a mandolin shaped buckle so when you wear it backwards *, there is still a mandolin showing would be perfect.

Hmm. Actually a bike helmet reminiscent of a bowlback would be interesting.

I like the black but would also like to see a sunburst model. Also you might consider adding a truss rod to keep the bill from bending..

Basic black, for a lady - always good.

Got mine last week. Thankfully a bit larger than the last run. A quality hat. Thanks Scott.

Best thing to do is to learn to play the cap in all keys. You just never know ...

My thanks to Scott for the contest which allowed me to win a fine hat. It arrived in the great white north today. Click image for larger version.

Is the hat more appropriate for a snake head or a paddle head?

Bob. I don't think posting a picture is gonna help Pasha see it any better. Don't fret, though, because Pasha is cool like that.

    Pasha,
In case you haven't already ordered one, my husband said my new Mandolin Cafe hat was cute on me. It has a nice gap in the back for a ponytail to pull through.
It only needed a tiny adjustment with the metal buckle to fit me.

It's a good hat, once you get it professionally set up.

I hear there is a growing market for vintage caps. And some people are even causing damage to the hats to make them look older and worn.

I have a vintage Mandolin Cafe cap in khaki and a new one in black, and frankly when wearing them blindfolded, I can't tell the difference. It's funny, though; people in the audience swear they can. But after I distressed the black one, people couldn't identify which was the old one and which was the new one.

I wear a hat when I'm out. My voice sounds different to me when I talk.

From what I can glean, they seem to be most appropriate for human heads without a repaired scroll.

I've heard that the post flood hats are some of the best ever made.

Still, each individual hat wears a little different because you cant predict the way the molecules in the cotton fibers cross and interact and so there will be variations in fit from hat to hat even in the same production year.

They all will be a little stiff when new but if you wear it hard every day they will really loosen up and give that vintage feel.

Or, you can buy a WearItRight mannequin head, plug it in, and place the hat on top and it simulates real hat wear while you sleep to give your hat that vintage feel in half the time. Haberdashers everywhere swear by them.

You should also buy a head guard. Its an all aluminum frame you cram on your head before you put the cap on. It keeps the cap in perfect shape and away from your scalp for better circulation.

The MC hat is made to within a tenth of a millimeter of the original F style 59fifty baseball cap that became the ultimate in design standard.

I do think I'd have to send it off to have the bill scooped out some though. I hate that annoying click when I walk up close to look out a window.
No matter where I go, there I am...Unless I'm running a little late.
